Pernod Ricard USA Appoints Republic Beverage Co. as its Distributor/Broker in 5 Markets
White Plains, N.Y., February 27, 2006 – Pernod Ricard USA has named Republic Beverage Company, one of the largest wholesalers of premium spirits and wines in the United States, to distribute Pernod Ricard's full line of spirits and wine brands in Texas and Louisiana, effective March 1, 2006. Republic also was reconfirmed as Pernod Ricard's vendor of record in Oklahoma, and as its exclusive broker in Alabama and Mississippi.
Michel Bord, Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard USA, said Republic was selected because of its strong track record, local market expertise, and longstanding partnership with the company. "Republic has performed very well for Pernod Ricard in its appointed markets, so expanding our relationship to include the former Allied Domecq brands was the right thing to do," he said.
In another move, Southern Wine & Spirits, the nation's largest spirits and wine wholesaler, was named to distribute Pernod Ricard USA's full line of spirits and wine brands in Arizona, effective March 1. The appointment further solidifies the strong relationship between Pernod Ricard and Southern, which represents the company in multiple markets across the U.S. "Southern's excellent planning and execution capabilities make them a strong partner," Bord said.
With the majority of its distributor and broker appointments now completed, Pernod Ricard USA is beginning to shift focus toward leveraging the power of its expanded premium portfolio. "Our strengthened distributor and broker network is well positioned to lead our dynamic brands toward continued growth," said Alain Barbet, President and Chief Operating Officer, Pernod Ricard USA. Barbet added that the new distributor alignment provides a great platform for Pernod Ricard USA's proprietary ACE program, a collaborative process that leverages the company's decentralized structure and entrepreneurial spirit. "By shifting resources and accountability to the field, ACE enables distributors and the Pernod Ricard sales teams to focus on their respective strengths," Barbet said.
