Jacob's Creek Heritage Range Launches In U.S.
WHITE PLAINS, NY, (SEPT.12, 2005) — JACOB'S CREEK, one of Australia's leading wine brands brings its Heritage Range to key U.S. markets in September. The Heritage Range, consisting of two super premium wines, the 2002 Steingarten Riesling and the 1998 Centenary Hill Barossa Shiraz, is produced by Orlando Wyndham and imported by Pernod Ricard USA, NY.
"For over 150 years, the makers of Jacob's Creek have earned the reputation as pioneer winemakers in Australia, and the super premium Heritage Range is a testament of their heritage and innovation," said Jeanne Toro, Senior Group Director, Pernod Ricard, USA. "Steingarten Riesling and Centenary Hill Shiraz are two of the finest wines under the Jacob's Creek banner, which will be available in the U.S. in limited quantities. Both wines are drinking beautifully now, but will develop with careful cellaring for up to 20 years."
In 1846, Johann Gramp, Jacob's Creek's founder, chose Riesling as the first vines to plant along the banks of Jacob's Creek. According to Jeanne Toro, today Jacob's Creek employs the knowledge, experience and techniques of the earliest vintages to create the iconic Steingarten Riesling, which is considered among the world's finest. The Steingarten 2002 vintage, sourced from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, display all the qualities of a classic dry Australian Riesling: bright pale, straw yellow with vibrant green hues, delicate lemon blossom nose, lemony citrus flavors with a hint of lime, and a refreshing crisp finish.
The 1998 Centenary Hill Shiraz hails from select vineyards also situated on the banks of the Jacob's Creek that contains some of the oldest vines in the Barossa Valley. On the site stands a Moreton Bay Fig tree planted in 1947 by a grandson of Johann Gramp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Orlando wines. This icon appears on the Centenary Hill label. The 1998 Shiraz is a fine example of an intense, full-bodied Barossa Valley Shiraz, composed of chocolate, ground spices and plum.
The Heritage Range is being launched in September and Philip Laffer, Jacob's Creek chief winemaker, will be attending events throughout New York, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Illinois, Oregon and Washington.
