Kahlúa Adds Mocha To Its Family Of Exotic Coffee Liqueurs

(May 13, 2008) – Kahlúa, the number one coffee liqueur in the world, today announced the addition of Kahlúa Mocha to its family of premium coffee liqueurs.  Available June 2008, Kahlúa Mocha will join original Kahlúa, Kahlúa Especial, Kahlúa French Vanilla and Kahlúa Hazelnut in retail and on-premise locations in the United States.

Made with a rich blend of 100% Arabica coffee, natural vanilla and real dark chocolate, Kahlúa Mocha offers consumers a new way to enjoy their favorite coffee liqueur and retailers the opportunity to enhance category profitability.  Kahlúa Mocha can be enjoyed over ice, in contemporary cocktails or as a twist on classic Kahlúa drinks.

“The rich, exotic flavor of dark chocolate is the perfect complement to Kahlúa,” said Cyril Claquin, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Malibu-Kahlúa International.  “Mocha consistently ranks as a favorite among both our consumers and coffee drinkers*, so we are confident that they will enjoy the pairing of Mocha with the unique flavor of Kahlúa.”

The launch of flavors is Kahlúa’s biggest innovation in the last decade and a top priority since the brand was acquired by Pernod Ricard in late 2005.  “Kahlúa receives a great deal of attention within our premium portfolio, and we are confident that Mocha will add to the momentum that Kahlúa French Vanilla and Kahlúa Hazelnut have built since their launch in May 2007,” said Susan Kilgore, Kahlúa Brand Director for Pernod Ricard USA.  “We will support the launch of Mocha with consumer in-store sampling, where legal, a 50ml trial program and specially designed POS materials including case cards and shelf talkers.”

Kahlúa Mocha will be available in 50ml, 750ml, and 1L sizes.  The 750ml will retail for a suggested price of $17.99.

Iced Mochaccino

  • 3 parts Kahlúa Mocha
  • 2 parts chilled espresso
  • Combine ingredients and serve over ice.

Mocha Bulldog

  • 1 part Kahlúa Mocha
  • 1 part Stoli Vodka
  • 1 part cola
  • Combine ingredients and serve over ice.

Mochatini

  • 1 ½ parts Kahlúa Mocha
  • 1 ½ parts Stoli® Vodka
  • Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass.

Mocha Freeze

  • 1 part Kahlúa Mocha
  • 2 parts coffee
  • 2 scoops ice cream OR 2 parts cream
  • Combine ingredients in blender.
    Blend and pour into glass.
