Chivas Regal®, Malibu® and Stoli® Support and Celebrate the Efforts and Accomplishments of Hispanic Americans

Purchase, N.Y., (July 16, 2008) – On June 18, 2008, Espiritu de Progreso Latino National Recognition event, sponsored by Chivas Regal® Scotch Whisky, Malibu® Caribbean Rum and Stolichnaya® Vodka, was held in New York honoring Hispanic American graduates from adult training programs supported by NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers), The Mercy Center, Latin Tech and the Hispanic Federation, all organizations dedicated to promoting the advancement of Hispanics through education, job training and career enhancement.

“The Espiritu de Progreso Latino program shines a light on organizations and individuals dedicated to advancing Latino achievement,” said Bill Cherrie, Vice President Multicultural Marketing, Pernod Ricard USA.  “It is fitting that Chivas, Malibu and Stoli should all sponsor this vital program and recognition event.  These three brands have consistently taken a leadership role in forging bonds with local Hispanic communities in an effort to open doors and help Latinos in the pursuit of the American dream.  Hispanics represent a vital consumer segment for our brands.  It is important that, as brand owners, we continue to give back and make a difference in the lives of those who support us.”

The celebration itself honored 36 Hispanic Americans who have made great strides in improving their circumstances through dedication and hard work.  During the event, the 2008 National Mosaic of Latino Progress was unveiled.  This impressive interactive mosaic depicts over 1000 stories from Latinos across the country who shared their personal experiences of hope and development by entering their testimonials through the espiritudeprogresolatino.org website.  For every entry, Chivas, Malibu and Stoli made an additional donation to the non-profit organizations (noted above) at the heart of the Espiritu program.

“Immigrant communities, especially Latinos, come to this great country in search of a better life,” said Lillian Rodriguez-Lopez, President for the Hispanic Federation.  “Hard work and education are two of the most important values of the Hispanic community.  The ‘Espiritu de Progreso Latino’ initiative pays tribute to those values, offers opportunities to our Hispanic community and highlights our contributions to the American society.”

”Celebrating the “spirit” of Latino progress is very much aligned with our brand’s and company’s core values,” concluded Cherrie, “ and it is a natural extension of our commitment to the communities we serve.  The aspiration to succeed, even against great odds, is a Latino trait we applaud and support.”
