The Glenlivet® Blazes a Golden Trail at IWSC 2008

Purchase, N.Y. (June 27, 2008) -- The single malt that started it all has stamped its authority on the 2008 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) with an award for every expression in the permanent The Glenlivet® range, including Gold Best in Class accolades for The Glenlivet 12 Year Old First Fill and The Glenlivet 21 Year Old.

Neil Macdonald, brand director for malts at Chivas Brothers, observes: “The Glenlivet was the single malt that defined the original Speyside style and our success at the IWSC proves we continue to be the benchmark single malt Scotch whisky to this day.”

The Glenlivet’s unrivalled provenance has helped drive the brand to the No. 2 global position and the No. 1 single malt in the U.S. Market.  In response to rapidly increasing worldwide demand for The Glenlivet and its defining style, Pernod Ricard and Chivas Brothers have recently announced plans to expand their operations in Speyside.  By extending The Glenlivet Distillery the company will significantly increase capacity while demonstrating the company’s commitment to growing operations in Scotland.

In 2006 The Glenlivet became only the second premium single malt to achieve sales of over 500,000 9-liter cases and with such an award-winning range, its growth looks destined to continue.

The latest accolades at the IWSC awards continue a hugely successful year for The Glenlivet, having already won gold at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition and scooping the top award at the 2008 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards 13-20 Year Old category.
